Survey Benchmarking Salaries for Trademark Administrators
Intro
The client’s goal was to further understand factors contributing to salary and compensation discrepancies between trademark administrators (TMAs).
Challenge
The primary issue was that the company was not effectively differentiating its product in a highly competitive market.
This problem was significant because it caused variance in salary and compensation, requiring research into role types, experience levels, education, gender, job responsibilities, and location.
These factors significantly influence TMA salary and compensation levels; however, their complex and intersecting nature also makes it difficult to advocate for fair compensation.
Action Steps
Working alongside the client, we designed and distributed a survey to collect meaningful data to identify the most relevant factors impacting TMA salary and compensation.
After collecting 270 responses, we categorized the data and developed a report titled “Benchmarking Trademark Administrators’ Salaries.” The report provides the most comprehensive analysis of TMA compensation and benefits.
Results
This initiative aims to empower TMAs with data they can use to advocate for fair compensation and professional growth.
The final report is not only comprehensive but also highly accessible. It combines qualitative and quantitative data into an easily understandable format, enhanced by data visualization tools and mapping.
The findings have already had an impact: preliminary data from the survey helped one respondent negotiate a 30% salary increase. See Report Here

Client Feedback
"Alison is incredible to work with. She listened attentively to our needs, provided worthwhile feedback about the survey, helped us make the survey function as we needed it to, and did all our calculations for us. She was communicative throughout the process and helped us ensure our report was top-notch. On top of all that, she's a lovely person. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with her. She was always patient, kind, and enthusiastic. Working with someone who is not only good at what they do but who also truly enjoys it is always a pleasure!"
